Japan’s best practices in hydropower were discussed with representatives of the Japan Commission on Large Dams and TEPCO

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In order to study advanced Japanese experience in the design, construction and operation of hydraulic structures, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan held negotiations with representatives of the Japan Commission on Large Dams and TEPCO. The embassy of Uzbekistan in Tokyo reports.

The Japanese partners were familiarized with the program being implemented in the republic for the construction of new and modernization of existing hydroelectric power plants.

The TEPCO company has extensive experience in the operation of large hydrotechnical facilities, in particular, 8 pumped storage power plants with a capacity of over 23 thousand MW belong to the TEPCO company. An example is the large Kannagawa pumped storage power plant with a capacity of 940 MW, built using modern design and construction solutions in difficult mountain conditions. In the future, it is planned to expand the capacities of the pumped storage power plant to 2820 MW.

During the meeting, the Uzbek side proposed to establish cooperation on the application of Japan’s experience in hydropower. The Japanese side supported the proposal and expressed its readiness to assist in providing advisory and technical assistance in the design, construction and operation of hydraulic structures in Uzbekistan.
