Japanese publishing house donates books to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- According to a study by the International Institute for Marketing Research, 44% of respondents in Japan read books “every day or almost every day,” or at least once a week. According to this indicator, the Land of the Rising Sun is among the 15 “most reading nations” on earth.

That is why the five important initiatives put forward by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev to increase the spirituality of youth and the content of leisure activities are highly appreciated in Japan. The efforts of the Government of Uzbekistan to organize systematic work to improve the spirituality of young people and to widely promote the reading of books are assessed as very relevant and timely.

In order to provide a practical contribution to efforts in this direction, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan worked out the issue of obtaining books for educational institutions of the republic.

In particular, the diplomatic mission, together with the Tokyo regional office of the world famous publishing house World Scientific Publishing, worked out the provision of free of charge 260 books in English. Intended for students of higher educational institutions and pupils of the senior classes of specialized schools of the republic, the books are devoted to such subjects as mathematics, physics, economics, information and communication technologies and other relevant areas of research and educational institutions. The total cost of books submitted to Uzbekistan is about US$12,000.

The chairman of the publishing house Kok Hu FUA said that exact science books were selected for Uzbekistan as the country is known in the world as “the real pearl of the Silk Road that gave the world famous astronomers, mathematicians and physicists such as Al-Biruni, Al-Fergani, Al-Khorezmi”.

World Scientific Publishing, a scientific publishing house that is one of the leading scientific publishing houses in the world, was founded in 1981.
