Japanese Experts Train Uzbek Specialists in the Organization of Day Care Centers for People with Dementia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 17 to 29 January 2026, training seminars were held with the participation of specialists from the Japanese organization JWC Rehabilitation Management Association and with the support of the World Bank under the INSON project.

The seminars focused on the organization of day care centers and methodologies for providing specialized assistance to people with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease.

Starting March 1, 2026, as part of the “Step Toward an Active Life” program, a day care service will be launched for individuals aged 18 and over with relevant diagnoses who are under outpatient psychiatric supervision and do not exhibit behavioral disorders.

To deliver these services, day care centers will be established based on the Japanese model, applying advanced care and rehabilitation methodologies.

During practical training sessions, participants acquired skills in assessing patients’ conditions, assisting with safe mobility, developing individualized care plans, conducting group rehabilitation activities, and applying methodological approaches to working with service users.

The training was attended by staff from rehabilitation and prosthetics centers, as well as administrators of “Muruvvat” residential care institutions responsible for organizing social services.

Following completion of the program, participants will be able to serve as trainers themselves, transferring the acquired knowledge and practical skills to specialists working in relevant institutions at the local level. This approach is expected to expand access to high-quality support services for people with special needs.
