Japanese company Sugi Holdings interested in building a pharmaceutical plant in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 9 April 2025, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan with Katsunori Sugiura, the president of Japanese company Sugi Holdings.

During the meeting, discussions focused on leveraging the company’s expertise in managing large pharmacy chains, implementing preventive healthcare programs, and supplying Japanese medical products to Uzbekistan.

Katsunori Sugiura expressed interest in establishing a strategic partnership, including the implementation of a project to build a pharmaceutical plant in Uzbekistan. The plant's purpose would be to meet domestic demand and export products to neighboring countries.

The parties agreed to continue cooperation on the discussed projects, with the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan appointing a dedicated project manager.

Sugi Holdings, founded in 1976, operates a group of pharmaceutical and medical companies. The holding controls over 2,500 stores and 14 major logistics centers in Japan, with its shares listed on the Tokyo and Osaka stock exchanges.
