Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The growth of the gross domestic product of Uzbekistan in the first quarter of 2020 is expected to reach 4.1-4.4%. This was stated today by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov.
According to him, the growth of the economy of Uzbekistan slowed down by 0.9-1.2% compared to the same period of 2019. The industry in Uzbekistan in January-March grew by 4%.
Uzbekistan reduced exports by 11% and imports by 10% in the first quarter of 2020.
Jamshid Kuchkarov noted that the second quarter will be very difficult for Uzbekistan.
“The quarantine restrictions came in April, but there is a high probability that they will continue in May,” he said.
