Jamshid Kuchkarov meets with the UN Assistant Secretary General and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 June, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov met at the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction with a delegation led by the UN Assistant Secretary General and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS Mirjana Spoljaric Egger.

The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Minister Ilkhom Norkulov, Deputy Minister Bobur Abdinazarov, Deputy Finance Minister Akhadbek Khaidarov and Director of the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research Umid Abidkhodjaev.

The UNDP delegation also included the permanent representative of the Program in the Republic of Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovska, her deputy Doina Munteanu and others.

The parties discussed the Comprehensive National Financing Mechanism (CNMF) to achieve the national Sustainable Development Goals, the implementation in the near future of the Poverty Reduction Strategy and "green" recovery of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the importance of the active involvement of UNDP specialists in working consultations on the preparation of the CNMF and the corresponding "road map" was noted. In turn, UNDP representatives expressed their readiness to provide expert and analytical assistance in capacity building within the framework of the Poverty Reduction Strategy, in particular, in the formation of support and training programs for women and youth.

During the discussion, special attention was paid to the development and implementation of regional innovative projects for the social protection of vulnerable segments of the population by creating jobs.

In order to introduce "green" technologies in the republic, a joint project "Towards green recovery in Uzbekistan" is being implemented, which is aimed at promoting sustainable development in pilot regions in 2021-2022.

The issues of human capital development and improvement of state policy in the field of social protection were also considered.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness for further expert study of various aspects of long-term mutually beneficial partnership in order to effectively implement socio-economic reforms.
