Jamshid Khodjaev Discusses New Projects and Cooperation Program with ADB through 2030
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev held a meeting with Asian Development Bank (ADB) Executive Director Dongil Kim and the head of the bank’s Uzbekistan office, Kanopkan Lao-Araya.
Since Uzbekistan joined the ADB, the bank has supported the country’s key reforms and infrastructure projects. The total cooperation portfolio exceeds US$15 billion. To date, 65 projects worth US$10.01 billion have been completed, while 30 ongoing projects totaling US$5.0218 billion cover water supply and utilities, energy, transport, agro-industrial complexes and water management, healthcare, the financial sector, and projects without sovereign guarantees. Additionally, 21 projects worth US$3.1785 billion are in development, including initiatives in green energy, budget support, education, transport, water management, digitalization, and other areas.
In 2025, five loan agreements were signed totaling US$1.25814 billion, of which US$800 million was allocated to budget support.
During the meeting, the parties identified priority areas for the next phase of cooperation, including preparation of a joint engagement program through 2030, emphasizing private sector and public-private partnership projects. Discussions also focused on strengthening the ADB office in Tashkent, providing targeted technical support for women and youth in skills development and entrepreneurship, and expanding tools to support SMEs and exports, including concessional export financing and trade risk insurance.
Special attention was given to preparations for the 59th Annual Meeting of the ADB, scheduled for 3–6 May 2026 in Samarkand. Khodjaev expressed confidence that the Samarkand event will provide an additional impetus to strengthen cooperation through the implementation of concrete initiatives and the signing of new agreements.
