Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 16 March, the khokimiyat of the capital hosted a meeting between the khokim of the city of Tashkent Jakhongir Artikkhodjaev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bangladesh Muhammad Jahangir Alam.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of development and bringing bilateral relations to a new level. Speaking about cooperation between the two countries and their cities, the khokim of Tashkent city stressed that they are linked by historical ties, and also noted the importance of attention to the untapped potential in trade, economic, cultural spheres, healthcare, education and tourism.
Muhammad Jahangir Alam said that in recent years, Bangladesh has seen steady economic growth, which is positively influenced by the conditions created for entrepreneurs, tax breaks and many other factors. He noted that Bangladesh is the second largest textile producer in the world, and the pharmaceutical industry is developing more and more in the country, noting that the development of cooperation with Uzbekistan and Tashkent in these areas is promising. He proposed to establish an exchange of teachers and students in the field of education and develop mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of tourism. He also stressed the importance of establishing and developing twinning relations between Tashkent and Dhaka.
During the dialogue, the parties exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
