Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan organized a videoconference meeting with a professor at Komazawa University, archaeologist Hiroaki Furusho.
Komazawa University is one of the oldest universities, which was founded on the basis of the seminary of the Soto Buddhist school, one of the two main areas of Zen Buddhism in Japan. It has 16 thousand students.
During the meeting, issues of enhancing cooperation and conducting archaeological excavations of ancient Buddhist temples in Surkhandarya region, continuing the activities of the late prof. K.Kato, as well as the possibility of organizing joint events with the Japanese side in this area.
It was noted that at present, as a result of the targeted efforts of the Government of the Republic, the epidemiological situation in the country has been significantly stabilized, which creates the necessary opportunities for the development of practical cooperation between scientists of the two countries.
The Japanese side confirmed its readiness to assist in the training of young scientific personnel, and as the epidemiological situation stabilizes, to conduct archaeological excavations at the Buddhist monuments of the Surkhandarya region.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue working out practical issues of cooperation in studying the history of Buddhism in southern Uzbekistan.
