Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 29 November, a two-day regional round table on the topic "Protection of the rights of persons subjected to gender-based violence: law enforcement practice in Central Asian countries" began in the capital.
The purpose of this event is to summarize the current experience of the law enforcement agencies of the Central Asian countries in ensuring the rights of women, protecting them from harassment and violence, as well as the problems of corruption when considering issues of violence against women by law enforcement agencies.
The event is held in cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan, the United Nations Development Program in our country, as well as the Office of the Najot Nuri (Light of Salvation) program in Central Asia and Afghanistan as part of the global campaign "16 days of active action against gender-based violence" (25 November – 10 December) and International Anti-Corruption Day (9 December), Dunyo news agency reports.
The seminar was attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, in particular, employees of the prosecutor’s office, law enforcement agencies, judiciary, non-governmental organizations and international experts, as well as foreign embassies.
