Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 September 2020, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov held a meeting in Moscow with the Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev.

During the conversation, a thorough exchange of views took place on the implementation of the Action Plan for Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the CIS in 2020.

It was noted that despite the coronavirus pandemic, the Uzbek side managed to successfully implement most of the previously planned activities.

This year, in the format of videoconferences, meetings of the statutory bodies of the CIS were held: the Council of Foreign Ministers (on 12 May), the Council of Heads of Government (on 29 May) and the CIS Economic Council (on 30 June), as well as a number of meetings of sectoral cooperation bodies.

Particular attention is paid to the issues of careful preparation of the main event of the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the CIS - the Summit of Heads of States (on 16 October).

It was noted that the agenda of this event includes important issues aimed at further increasing the efficiency of the CIS.
