Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Successful solution of logistical problems is an important factor in the development of foreign economic relations and entry into international markets to increase the volume of foreign trade. In particular, the strategic task for Uzbekistan in this direction is access to seaports and the creation of convenient transport corridors.
Consistent work is underway to develop cooperation, further diversify transport routes with neighboring countries, increase the country’s transit potential, create additional favorable conditions for facilitating the transit of goods, and implement new regional projects in the field of transport and logistics.
So, in particular, on 26-27 March in Termez with the participation of representatives of large transport and logistics companies of Uzbekistan, Pakistan and Afghanistan, as well as the International Association of Road Carriers and Transport and Customs Authorities, a meeting of the trilateral working group on transport issues was held. The Uzbek delegation was represented by the Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan O. Choriyev.
During the meeting, practical aspects of the development of international cargo transportation through the countries of the region were discussed, including mechanisms for the mutual recognition of driver’s licenses, vaccination certificates, and the issuance of visas. The Pakistani side proposed to digitalize a number of customs procedures in order to ensure transparency and efficiency of their passage by carriers.
Readiness was expressed to work together to increase the throughput of terminals, review the procedure for applying penalties for demurrage of vehicles and resolve other issues that transport and logistics companies face in the course of their activities.
