Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 December 2020, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic Agostino Pinna.
An exchange of views took place on the progress of large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan, the state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, including on the intensification of inter-parliamentary ties.
The Italian Ambassador hailed the country's achievements in social and economic development. “We fully support the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan,” the Ambassador stressed.
According to Agostino Pinna, the open policy of Uzbekistan turns it into one of the most important partners of Italy.
It was noted that warm relations have been established between the countries, cooperation in the political sphere is strengthening. Uzbekistan and Italy closely interact within the framework of international organizations.
Special attention is paid to the further development of inter-parliamentary ties. In this context, the parties noted the importance of the exchange of parliamentary delegations, contacts at the level of heads of parliaments, profile committees and friendship groups, as well as the exchange of experience in the field of parliamentary activities, including on the establishment of cooperation between the Institute of Legislation and Parliamentary Research under the Oliy Majlis and analytical divisions of the Italian Parliament and others.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to continue work on strengthening multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Italy.
