Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 November 2021, within the framework of the participation of the delegation of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva, in the 143rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Madrid, a meeting was held with the Secretary General of this Organization by Martin Chungong.

The IPU Secretary General congratulated on the successful holding of the presidential elections in Uzbekistan.

The unconditional leadership of the republic in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals was especially noted. In this context, the results of the Bukhara Forum on the role of parliamentarians in achieving the SDGs, which took place on 17-18 June 2021, were positively assessed.

The well-coordinated work of the Oliy Majlis with state bodies, as well as high results in protecting human rights and ensuring gender equality were emphasized.

The parties agreed to hold the Forum of Women Speakers of Parliaments in Uzbekistan at a high substantive and organizational level in September 2022.

The issues of launching promising projects within the framework of the Ministry of Railways were also discussed.

Other issues related to cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union were also discussed at the meeting.
