Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Beijing organized a round table in order to attract advanced scientific and technological solutions from China to combat soil salinization in the Aral Sea region, Dunyo news agency reported.

The event was attended by leaders and scientists from the Beijing University of Forestry, the Chinese Academy of Forestry and the State Forestry and Grassland Administration of the PRC, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Innovative Development and the State Forestry Committee of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on cooperation in the field of combating desertification and soil salinization, joint implementation of environmental projects in the Aral Sea region.

The Chinese side presented modern methods for the restoration of highly saline soils on desert lands in certain regions of the PRC.

As a result of the event, the parties agreed to adopt an interaction program for the joint implementation of specific projects by introducing alternative methods of introducing agriculture on saline soils of the Aral Sea region, conducting joint scientific research on managing and improving pasture productivity, as well as training Uzbek specialists in certain areas of forestry.
