Issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to discuss the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan, a meeting was held with a member of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party Minoru Kiuchi, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tokyo reports.

During the meeting, issues of further intensifying inter-parliamentary cooperation in the context of the coronavirus pandemic were substantively discussed. It was noted that the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan in December 2019 gave a powerful impetus to Uzbek-Japanese cooperation, including inter-parliamentary ties.

An agreement was reached on joint elaboration of bilateral measures to strengthen cooperation between the Inter-Parliamentary Group "Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Parliament of Japan" and the Japanese Parliamentary League of Friendship with Uzbekistan.

They also discussed the issue of mutual support of candidates and initiatives of Uzbekistan and Japan within the framework of international organizations, including the United Nations, as well as parliamentary structures.
