Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to discuss the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tokyo held a meeting with the newly appointed parliamentary deputy foreign minister of Japan Satoshi Nakanishi. During the meeting, the historical nature of the December 2019 meeting was noted. the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan, which brought bilateral relations to a new level. The parties stressed the importance, despite the coronavirus pandemic, of intensifying efforts to practically implement all the agreements reached during the visit.

The Japanese side welcomed the entry into force on 17 October 2020 of the Interstate Convention on the Elimination of Double Taxation between Uzbekistan and Japan, which was signed during the high-level visit.

The meeting substantively discussed issues of further enhancing interaction in the political, trade and economic spheres, as well as mutual support of the candidates of Uzbekistan and Japan within the framework of international organizations.

They also discussed plans for joint work in order to successfully hold the 8th Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Dialogue "Central Asia + Japan" in 2021. in Tokyo, as well as celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Japan in 2022.
