Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 December 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov, together with the foreign ministers of the Central Asian countries who arrived in Tokyo to attend a meeting of the Central Asia + Japan Dialogue, held a meeting with the Chairman of the Parliamentary League friendship "Japan-Central Asia" Taro Aso and members of the League.
Speaking at the meeting, Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov said that the Uzbek side considers the creation of the League as a sign of the growing importance of Central Asia in Japan's foreign policy.
It was noted that at the present stage a high level of trust and mutual understanding has been established between Uzbekistan and Japan. Effective mechanisms of cooperation between political, business, scientific and academic circles have been formed.
The trend of activation of inter-parliamentary exchanges was stated. The number of members of the Japanese Parliamentary League of Friendship with Uzbekistan has increased to 41 people.
Vladimir Norov invited Taro Aso to Uzbekistan to hold the next meeting of the Uzbek-Japanese inter-parliamentary forum.
A proposal was made to organize the first Inter-Parliamentary Forum "Central Asia - Japan" in Samarkand.
