Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Negotiations were held between the director of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan Sardor Kariev and the president of Huscion Co., Ltd. Song Su Ju, Dunyo news agency reported.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Seoul, the meeting, which was held online, was also attended by senior officials of the South Korean company on clinical trials, scientific work and international cooperation.
Song Su Ju noted that following a meeting with the head of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency of Uzbekistan in December 2021 as part of a high-level visit, he decided to implement a project to develop new medicines together with the Uzbek side. In particular, negotiations have begun on preparing for the signing of a joint Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of a project to develop new medicines.
During the talks, it was also reported on the agreements reached to study the issue of transferring technology for the development of new drugs to the Uzbek side and establishing business cooperation by attracting know-how and modern technologies. Song Su Ju proposed organizing clinical trials of drugs for Alzheimer's disease, skin problems, coronavirus (COVID-19), leukemia and Parkinson's disease in Uzbekistan.
Sardor Kariev informed about the adoption of the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan “On additional measures to accelerate the development of the pharmaceutical industry of the republic in 2022-2026”, according to which the restriction on clinical trials of medicines on healthy volunteers is lifted. According to him, this will allow conducting clinical trials of medicines together with leading pharmaceutical companies and thereby speed up the process of technology transfer for their development in Uzbekistan.
The South Korean side was provided with detailed information on the procedures for starting clinical trials of drugs in Uzbekistan.
As part of the negotiations, a ceremony was held to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency and Huscion Co., Ltd. for the implementation of the project for the development of new drugs.
A joint Roadmap for further activities was also discussed and agreed upon, including the development of the signing of a bilateral agreement, the creation of a joint venture, technology transfer, and personnel training. A detailed exchange of views was made on the timing of the implementation of each event, including priority areas for interaction, the study of the procedures and requirements of Uzbekistan when obtaining permission to conduct clinical trials, technology transfer.
In conclusion, an agreement was reached on the formation of a joint working group to conduct further discussions and achieve practical results aimed at promoting joint activities within the framework of the signed Memorandum of Understanding.
