Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Samarkand hosted a seminar on the theme "International Year of Mountains and Zarafshan National Park: Prospects for Development". 

The organizers of this event are the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection together with the ecological network "Zoy". This was reported by the press service of the Main Department of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Samarkand region.

The event was organized to support the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development, declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2021, the UN International Decade for Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030), as well as informing about the problems and approaches of Uzbekistan to the conservation of unique nature.

During the seminar, issues of conservation of the flora and fauna of the mountains and tugai ecosystems, prevention of the disappearance of flora and fauna, saving the Zarafshan River from today's problematic situation were discussed.
