Isroil Madrimov Secures Convincing Victory Over Salazar in First Fight After Year-Long Hiatus
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Former world light-middleweight champion Isroil Madrimov made a successful return to the professional ring, earning a decisive victory after nearly a year away from competition.
The bout took place on 24 January at the Fontainebleau arena in Las Vegas during a boxing event organized by Matchroom Boxing. Madrimov’s opponent was Luis David Salazar from the Dominican Republic.
Madrimov controlled the fight throughout all ten rounds, consistently setting a high pace and maintaining the initiative. Salazar opted to fight defensively from the opening bell, attempting to minimize damage, but was unable to change the course of the match. In the final round,
Madrimov came close to a stoppage, delivering a series of heavy blows, but Salazar endured until the final bell. The judges awarded a unanimous decision victory to Madrimov.
This fight marked an important milestone in Madrimov’s career. He had not competed for almost a year due to shoulder surgery and returned to full training just five weeks before the bout. Despite the limited preparation time, he demonstrated a high level of fitness and confirmed his ambitions to return among the top fighters in his division.
