In his keynote speech, Sanjar Valiev, Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies (ISMI) under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, drew attention to the most important trends in the SCO and revealed the new active role of Uzbekistan in further building up interaction on the platform of this organization.

According to an ISMI representative, the COVID-19 pandemic has become a powerful catalyst for global change, has affected almost all spheres of life and has affected practical cooperation within the SCO. In the current conditions, the decisions of the summit of the SCO heads of state held on November 10 became a collective response to the complex of problems that the new reality is shaping.

The pragmatic and specific nature of his proposals on the formation of new approaches and mechanisms of cooperation in the socio-economic sphere, strengthening the interconnectedness of health systems and expanding contacts in matters of security, in fact, creates a basis for wider use of the potential of the SCO countries in common interests.

The analyst summed up that the new open foreign policy of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, entirely based on the interests of the development of the country and the region, gives a powerful impetus to the development of cooperation. As a result, the country's authority in the SCO and other international organizations is greatly strengthened.
