Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent hosts an International Conference on “Samarkand OTS Summit: Main results and prospects for the development of cooperation”.
Addressing the event, Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Eldor Aripov emphasized that during the period between the summits in Istanbul and Samarkand, the Organization of Turkic States demonstrated the unprecedented activity of its structures, both in terms of filling the practical content of previously reached agreements, and in the development of new projects within the framework of the implementation of the strategy “Turkic World Vision - 2040”.
“In this regard, Uzbekistan has become an important platform for various events through the OTS”, the ISRS representative said.
“So, I recall with great satisfaction our recent meeting in Tashkent at the 8th Meeting of the analytical centers of the member countries and observers of the OTS, when we comprehensively discussed the issues of the state of cooperation between our states, developed proposals for further enhancing cooperation in the Turkic space”, Eldor Aripov stated.
According to him, the culmination of all these events was the First OTS Summit in Samarkand.
The results of the meeting and the agreements reached show that the Turkic states, which form an almost continuous space from China to Europe, have demonstrated solidarity and a common desire to keep up with the times, the purposefulness of our countries.
Following the talks at the summit, more than 10 multilateral documents were adopted, the Samarkand Declaration was signed, which fixes the agreed positions of states on key regional and international issues and the development of multilateral interaction.
The logical outcome of the last summit was also the approval of the Strategy of the Organization of Turkic States for 2022-2026, which integrates all areas and programs of multilateral cooperation for the coming years.
The main attention in the agenda of the summit was given to issues of practical cooperation. Among them are such priority topics for all countries of the region as the creation of favorable conditions for mutual trade and investment cooperation, the development of interaction in transport and logistics, energy, agriculture, and tourism.
In this regard, relevant agreements and other documents have been signed, including the Transport Connectivity Program and the Agreement on International Multimodal Transportation. These decisions are necessary to radically improve the situation in mutual trade between the Turkic states.
“These documents will set new vectors for multilateral cooperation. They are designed to consolidate the efforts of the OTS countries and become a collective response to the challenges that the community of our states is facing today”, Eldor Aripov concluded.
The event, which takes place with the online connection of foreign participants, is organized by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the support of the International Institute for Central Asia.
More than 20 prominent representatives of the scientific, academic and analytical circles of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Hungary, as well as the Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States are taking part in the conference.
The forum participants discussed the main results of the First OTS Summit in Samarkand on November 11 this year, including its significance, as well as important initiatives put forward by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the sidelines of the event.
