Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 July 2021, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Oleg Malginov, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The parties exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan and the efforts of the international community, as well as the two countries to enhance cooperation in the Afghan direction. 

The Russian Ambassador emphasized the significant role of Uzbekistan in establishing long-term and sustainable peace in Afghanistan, as well as the country's involvement in the regional integration process.

Oleg Malginov highly appreciated the current level of relations and congratulated on the successful holding of the International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities” (on 15-16 July 2021), the results of which will contribute to strengthening interregional connectivity.
