Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 July 2021, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan, Yoshinori Fujiyama, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Japanese side highly appreciated the current level of relations and congratulated on the successful holding of the International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities” (on 15-16 July 2021), which will contribute to strengthening interregional connectivity.
The parties discussed the efforts of the two countries to enhance cooperation in the Afghan direction, in particular, interaction in establishing a long-term and sustainable peace in Afghanistan, as well as involving the country in the regional integration process.
Views were also exchanged on the situation in Afghanistan and on promoting the peaceful political process in that country.
