Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 August 2021, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China for Afghanistan Yue Xiaoyong.
The representative of China highly appreciated the results of the International Conference on Regional Connectivity in Tashkent, noting that the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to convene an international forum of such a high level was timely, and the agenda was very relevant.
At the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the current situation in Afghanistan and the prospects for its development, issues of mutual assistance to the peace process in this country were considered. It was emphasized that Uzbekistan and China attach great importance to the consolidation of the efforts of the international community to resolve the long-term conflict.
The expediency of continuing the interaction of the parties to support peace and stability in the IRA, both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of international organizations, in particular the Doha Platform and the SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group, was voiced.
The important role of a unified approach of regional countries in the Afghan crisis was noted, as well as the need to continue all-round economic and humanitarian support for the Afghan people.
