Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Who will be vaccinated against COVID-19 in the first place? Where will they be vaccinated? The Deputy Head of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service Botirjon KURBANOV answered these questions from the Press Service of the Ministry of Health.

- Should vaccinations be given to people who have recovered from coronavirus infection?

- Yes, due to the serious health risks associated with COVID-19 and the possibility of re-infection with the virus, we should get vaccinated whether we have already been infected with it or not.

- Who will be vaccinated in Uzbekistan first?

- Initially, on the recommendation of WHO and with the study of the experience of other countries, in accordance with the relevant order of the country’s Minister of Health from 15 February 2021, the population was divided into categories according to the risk of infection. Therefore, vaccinations will be carried out in the same sequence.

These categories include:

People with a very high risk of infection: people over 65 years old (65–74, 75–84, 85 years and older), medical personnel, patients with chronic diseases under dispensary supervision;

People at high risk: members of the military and law enforcement agencies, journalists, bloggers, media representatives, transport workers (bus, metro, railroad, airport), preschool and school workers.

Their successive vaccination is planned. After that, other segments of the population will be gradually covered.

- Where the citizens will be vaccinated?

- Vaccination against coronavirus will be carried out in central multidisciplinary polyclinics, family polyclinics, family doctor’s offices and mobile groups. The local outpatient clinic service will inform about the date, time and place of vaccination of citizens.

The vaccination will be carried out by specially trained and certified vaccination specialists.
