Iranian Embassy in Tashkent Condemns US and Israel Military Actions
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Uzbekistan issued a statement strongly condemning the actions of the United States and Israel, describing them as ongoing military aggression against Iran.
According to the diplomatic mission, the conflict has lasted 31 days at the time of the statement’s release. The embassy asserted that the United States and Israel initiated unlawful military operations aimed at weakening Iran, but their objectives have not been achieved. It emphasized that the resistance of Iranian armed forces and the population demonstrated the failure of these attempts.
The statement highlighted violations of Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force in international relations. It further noted that the attacks largely targeted civilian infrastructure and the general population. Official figures cited in the statement report 281 schoolchildren and teachers killed and 4,000 women injured as of March 28. Significant damage was recorded to tens of thousands of buildings, hundreds of educational and medical facilities, and emergency transport vehicles.
The embassy stressed that strikes on non-military targets represent breaches of humanitarian norms and international law. It also criticized international organizations for insufficient action to halt hostilities.
The statement mentioned that in recent days, the US signaled through third parties a potential willingness to enter negotiations, but Iran has not engaged in dialogue with the US since the start of the conflict. Tehran has warned of serious consequences in response to any attacks on critical infrastructure, including energy facilities.
Special attention was given to the situation around the Strait of Hormuz. The embassy affirmed Iran’s right, as a coastal state, to regulate the use of this waterway to prevent aggression while maintaining open navigation.
The document also alleged that the spread of misinformation about the regional situation is being used to manipulate markets for illegal profit. The embassy reiterated Iran’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and stated its readiness to protect its sovereignty by all available means. It specifically referenced an attack on the city of Minab at the start of the conflict, resulting in the deaths of over 172 primary school students.
The statement concluded by emphasizing that Iran does not seek military confrontation but will continue to defend its territory and population. The embassy called on states responsible for maintaining international peace and security to assess the situation and ensure compliance with international law.
