Irakli Kobakhidze and Nuriddin Ismoilov discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Nuriddin Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, to discuss the dynamic development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception of the Georgian delegation, Kobakhidze emphasized the friendly nature of Uzbek-Georgian relations and highlighted the significant potential for deepening economic ties.
“The volume of bilateral trade can be significantly increased. We are actively working on strengthening Georgia’s transit role and expanding its connectivity. Our economy has shown steady growth, with an average annual GDP increase of over 9.5% in the past four years—the highest rate in Europe. We maintain a liberal economic policy with low tax rates and minimal taxation, creating favorable conditions for Uzbek investors looking to do business in Georgia,” Kobakhidze stated.
He also noted the active cooperation in tourism while pointing to additional opportunities for expansion. Furthermore, he underscored the potential for stronger ties in culture, science, education, sports, and other fields, reaffirming Georgia’s interest in broadening its partnership with Uzbekistan.
In response, Nuriddin Ismoilov highlighted the high level of intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary relations between the two nations.
“Georgia has become a model of democratic development and successful reforms. Your country has admirably overcome external pressures and internal challenges, reaffirming its commitment to democratic values,” the Uzbek speaker stated.
