Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An international sculptural symposium has started in Samarkand with the participation of craftsmen from the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Within a month, professional sculptors, masters of gardening plastics will create works made in solid materials - marble, metal, stone and fireclay.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with the Khokimiyat of Samarkand region, as part of the preparations for the summit of the SCO member countries, which will be held in September this year in Samarkand.

At the end of the symposium, the sculptures of the SCO countries will be donated to the organizers for installation in parks and alleys of the city, as well as on the territory of the Samarkand "Museum Square", which includes 7 museums. It is also planned to publish a catalog of these works.

It should be noted that the organizers expressed their desire to make the International Sculpture Symposium a traditional and regular international forum for artists from the SCO member countries, as well as other partner states of Uzbekistan.
