International organizations are interested in strengthening scientific ties of military universities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4-5 November 2020, an international scientific online conference was held at the Academy of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on the topic: “Modern military conflicts and their ways prevention ".

The conference was attended by representatives of international organizations, including the SCO, NATO, the International Committee of the Red Cross, experts from the George Marshall European Center for Security Studies and leading foreign educational institutions from the USA, Russia, China, Germany, Great Britain, Poland, India, Italy, Republic of Korea, Pakistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

The event discussed the policy pursued under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev of deepening all-round mutually beneficial cooperation with countries of near and far abroad, including in defense and security issues. The participants examined the trends in the formation of modern challenges and threats to security, the features of current military conflicts.

The representatives of Uzbekistan highlighted the priority tasks in the work to increase the combat effectiveness of the Armed Forces, strengthen their material and technical base, provide modern weapons, and improve the training of military personnel.

Bakhromjon Sotiboldiev, head of the ISMI department, who took part in the conference, drew the attention of the forum participants to the observed changes in military affairs, which are taking place under the influence of information technologies and new types of weapons. He emphasized an important feature of modern "hybrid wars", which consists in the use of the entire spectrum of available military and non-military forms, means, methods and technologies of confrontation, implemented through the ideological, economic, political and other spheres.

During the online discussion, foreign military experts noted an increase in the international activity of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan in order to exchange advanced experience, knowledge and skills with partner higher military educational institutions and think tanks around the world. They shared their experience in studying the content of modern military conflicts, as well as proposals for effective mechanisms to counter "hybrid" threats.

In general, in the context of a pandemic, the conference served as a demanded platform for a constructive exchange of views between experts and aroused great interest on their part. The results of the discussion made it possible to outline the prospects for the development of military and military-technical cooperation, to identify new directions and possible measures for the formation of joint plans for 2021.
