International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation to highlight the prospects for trade finance and trade development in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) is organizing its first gathering of partner institutions from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Region, on 1st September in the city of Tashkent, on the sidelines of the 46th Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Annual Meeting.

The high-level gathering is organized under the theme "ITFC Partners Event: Extending Trade Solutions in the CIS Region " and it includes a celebration of ITFC’s successful partnerships in the region, in the areas of Islamic trade finance and trade development. 

The program of the event includes presenting new ITFC product and initiatives, which could benefit the region, including Uzbekistan, in addition to a presentation on the ITFC program for the development of trade in the CIS. The event will also witness the signing of agreements between the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) and its partners on financing and technical assistance.

It is inaugurated by Sardor Umurzakov, Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade and IsDB Governor for Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Board of Governors, H.E Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group and hosted by Eng. Hani Salem Sonbol, ITFC CEO. The event also gather high-level and senior officers of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, Government officials and ITFC partner banks in the CIS region, as well as Trade Support Institutions and Regional Bodies.

It is worth highlighting that to date, ITFC has approved more than USD 1.2 billion financing in the CIS region. ITFC has offered extensive support activities in Uzbekistan since 2018 through the approval of US$211 million in financing for 13 operations and conducted several rounds of export promotion and capacity building activities benefitting 150 experts from the public and private sectors.
