International Carpet Exhibition-Festival “Shine of Carpets” held in Khiva

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 18–19 October 2025, the ancient city of Khiva hosted the International Carpet Exhibition-Festival “Shine of Carpets” at the Arda Khiva tourist complex. The event celebrated the rich traditions of carpet weaving and highlighted contemporary trends in decorative and applied arts design.

Organized to promote the unique cultural heritage of the region and showcase millennia-old carpet-making traditions, the festival brought together artisans and designers from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Iran.

The festival featured a wide range of carpet weaving schools and styles, national patterns and motifs, and handwoven carpets made with natural dyes. Visitors enjoyed exhibitions representing different regions, a handicrafts and souvenir fair, and a vibrant cultural program including traditional music and dance performances.

A key part of the event was the international conference “The Carpet — Our History and Modernity,” where participants discussed preserving traditional craftsmanship, transferring skills to younger generations, and expanding the export potential of folk art products.

The “Shine of Carpets” International Exhibition-Festival in Khiva became a vivid example of how national traditions and modern design approaches can foster cultural dialogue and promote Uzbekistan’s artisanal heritage on the global stage.
