Interior Minister: 62 081 crimes were registered in the republic in 2020

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the thirteenth plenary meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Minister of Interior Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan heard information on the state of prevention and prevention of offenses at the end of 2020.

It was noted that thanks to the systematic work carried out by the Ministry of Interior Affairs, 95.2% of crimes were solved. 2446 persons wanted by the investigating authorities were detained, and 436 persons who were missing were found. On the initiative of the Interior affairs bodies, 20,994 crimes were revealed.

At the same time, the study shows that there are certain shortcomings in the activities of the Interior affairs bodies, problems awaiting their solution, and opportunities that are not fully used.

In particular, in the past 2020, 62,081 crimes were registered in the republic, which is an average of 182.4 crimes per 100 thousand people.

Particularly grave crimes are committed by the makhalla activists and the general public because of the trouble in families, untimely resolution of conflicts, and ignorance of them.

In particular, every third crime related to murder registered in 2020 (143, 35.2%), 192 (20.5%) crimes of causing grievous bodily harm were committed within the framework of family and domestic relations.

At the same time, as a result of the untimely elimination of family conflicts, 14,379 offenses were committed in the field of family and domestic relations, of which 50.5% (7,264) fell on the Tashkent, Bukhara, Samarkand and Fergana regions. The saddest thing is that every sixth suicide is committed precisely because of family disagreements that were not resolved in time.

Due to the unresolved problems of women living in difficult living conditions, 5,774 women committed 5,520 crimes in 2020.

Thus, although 14,774 women who were harassed in their family life were issued “protection orders,” only in 317 cases of them the perpetrators were brought to administrative and criminal liability.

Due to the fact that there are still many problems in working with young people and not enough attention is paid to their elimination, in 2020 every fourth crime registered in the republic (14,378 or 23.2%) was committed by young people, including 4052 crimes - by unemployed youth.

In addition, the commission of crimes by more than 9 thousand unemployed testifies to the ineffective solution of issues of employment of the population on the ground.

The total number of road accidents in the republic has decreased compared to the same period last year. However, due to insufficient organization of safe conditions for road traffic, 1,962 people died.

At the meeting, the senators also paid attention to the issues of forming an intolerant attitude towards crime among the population, preventing crimes, ensuring the protection of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens.

In particular, from now on, together with the responsible ministries, departments and public organizations, measures will be taken to identify and eliminate the causes and factors contributing to the commission of offenses among women, minors, youth, especially unemployed youth.

A mechanism will be introduced to discuss the crimes committed in the state bodies themselves, as well as in the context of makhallas and spheres.

In order to prevent cases of torture committed by employees of the Interior affairs bodies in the Chirakchi region and the city of Andijan, to prevent violations of the rights and freedoms of citizens, employees have created 485 special rooms for interrogation. From now on, in these premises, a conversation with the brought citizen will be arranged.

Also, based on the crime situation in makhallas, they will be divided into categories into “red”, “yellow” and “green”.

To ensure the well-being of the population and early warning of offenses in makhallas, a system based on the principle of "Comfortable and safe makhalla" will be introduced.

A corresponding resolution of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis was adopted on this issue.
