Interim President pays visit to Surkhandarya region

He visited the region to familiarize himself with the socio-economic reforms, wide-scale works in the industry, agriculture and social sphere.

Interim President started his trip to Surkhandarya region with a visit to the memorial complex of Hakim at-Termezi.

Later, Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid the visit to “Termez Cargo Centre” international logistics center with a customs terminal and an adjacent camping site, the press service of the Uzbek President said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited one of the border checkpoints on the southern borders of Uzbekistan, where he stressed the need to further strengthen the state border, improve the conditions for service personnel.

At one of the residential quarters of the city of Termez, a presentation of the projects of modern apartment houses for young and low-income families, the construction of which is scheduled in the coming years, has been held.

Along with that, model projects of affordable individual housing for low-income families in rural areas with the construction of all necessary social infrastructure have been discussed. It was stressed that all facilities must be constructed in due time and quality.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also visited the facilities under construction at the “Amudaryo Sohili” sports complex. The complex will also include indoor and outdoor pools, sports facilities, rooms for various clubs, lots of attractions, walking trails and other.

Interim President visited the new “Gold dried fruits export” LLC enterprise, specialized in the processing of agricultural products. The cost of the project is US$25 million. The enterprise will deliver goods to local and foreign markets.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the construction work at the Iso at-Termezi complex, whose heritage is a priceless treasure and is carefully studied in the Muslim world.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed measures to accelerate the construction of a large cement plant in Sherabad district. The project cost is US$212.8 million. It will produce 1.5 million tonnes of cement a year.

Mirziyayev also held a meeting with representatives of the Surkhandarya region, where they discussed the issues of socio-economic development of the region, increasing its export potential, organization of new industrial enterprises, further improvement of social infrastructure.
