Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 October 2021, a meeting was held between the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sadyk Safoev with a member of the upper house of the British Parliament Peter Lilley, who took part in the presidential elections as an international observer.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which will be held on 24 October.
It was noted that full-scale coverage of all stages of the election campaign was organized. The elections demonstrate the competition of presidential candidates, which could be observed during the debates with their participation, during their broadcast on TV channels.
Peter Lilley highly appreciated the reforms carried out by the government of Uzbekistan for the development of all spheres.
During the meeting, it was noted that inter-parliamentary ties are an important direction of the Uzbek-British relations. The British side stressed the need to deepen the dialogue in this direction, including the intensification of the activities of inter-parliamentary friendship groups.
