Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 February 2022, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Chairwoman of the Commission on Ensuring Gender Equality Tanzila Narbayeva met with a delegation of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey headed by Chairperson of the Commission on Gender Equality in Opportunities Fatma Aksal.
Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva touched upon the fundamental political and socio-economic reforms carried out in our country, as well as work to ensure gender equality, noting that in recent years cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey in all areas, including between parliaments, has reached new level.
During the meeting, the state and prospects of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries were discussed, and an exchange of views took place on issues of ensuring gender equality and protecting the interests of women.
Fatma Aksal noted that our country is achieving great success, fraternal ties between our states are further strengthening, and stressed that today Uzbekistan and Turkey are reliable strategic partners.
It was emphasized that in our country increased attention is paid to women’s issues, equal opportunities are created for women and men, practical work is underway to improve working and living conditions, eliminate cases of violence against women, support people with disabilities, in 2021 Uzbekistan chaired the Dialogue women leaders of the countries of Central Asia.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached to expand effective cooperation through the implementation of joint projects and programs in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, investment and other areas, establish interaction in priority areas for both countries, including in the field of realizing the economic opportunities of women, establishing direct links between regions of countries.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
