Individuals detained in Uzbekistan for organizing illegal migration to the United States

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement agencies in Uzbekistan have disrupted several attempts to illegally send citizens abroad.

During a series of special operations, individuals were detained for offering unauthorized migration services to the United States in exchange for large sums of money.

In one case, officers from the State Security Service (SSS) of Navoi Region, together with the Prosecutor's Office and internal affairs bodies, detained a resident of Samarkand district (born in 1990). He demanded US$28,000 from a Navoi resident for a route to the U.S. via Türkiye – Europe – Mexico and was apprehended with evidence while receiving a partial payment of US$14,000.

In Jizzakh Region, a resident of Tashkent (born in 2000), previously convicted multiple times for fraud, was also detained. He had promised a resident of Sharof Rashidov district assistance with visa documents and travel to the U.S. for US$35,000, receiving a US$10,000 advance through an intermediary.

Another incident occurred in Gulistan, Syrdarya Region. A man from Yangiyul district, Tashkent Region (born in 2000), offered a local citizen U.S. visa services and travel via Türkiye – Spain – Mexico for US$15,000. He was caught while receiving a US$5,000 advance and 26 million soums.

Additionally, in Tashkent Region, SSS officers from Syrdarya Region detained a Tashkent resident (born in 1995). He had promised two residents of Shirin city assistance with obtaining visas and employment in the U.S. for US$38,000. He was apprehended upon receiving an advance of 52 million soums.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated in all cases, and investigations are currently underway.
