Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In India, a case was opened against the pharmaceutical company Marion Biotech in connection with the death of children in Uzbekistan after taking Doc-1 Max syrup.
The Central Drug Standards Organization of India opened a case against the Indian company.
Marion Biotech announced that the company has suspended production of Doc-1 Max syrup.
The Indian authorities requested additional information about the incident from Uzbekistan.
Nineteen children under the age of 6 died after using the drug "Doc-1 Max". Law enforcement agencies opened a criminal case. Officials of the importing company Quramax Medical and the Scientific Center for Standardization of Medicines were detained under Article 186-3 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health announced that ethylene glycol was found in the batch of the drug.
The State Security Service of Uzbekistan announced the initiation of a criminal case into the death of children after taking Doc-1 Max syrup and the detention of officials of the importing company Quramax Medical and the Scientific Center for Standardization of Medicines.
