Incendiary devices thrown at US Embassy in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An unidentified assailant tossed two improvised incendiary devices onto the territory of the US Embassy in Uzbekistan on Monday, 28 September, the diplomatic mission said in a statement.

According to the Embassy, the incident took place at approximately 7:30 am on Monday. One of the incendiary devices exploded. No one was injured in the blast.

Immediately following the explosion the embassy went on lockdown, but now the mission is open for business, the US Embassy said.

“At this time there is no specific threat information against Americans and/or American interests. Visitors to the US Embassy will notice an increased security presence as a result of this event,” the US mission noted.

It added that an investigation on the event is underway and the US Embassy is cooperating with local authorities.
