IMRI: Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables Became Cheaper in Tashkent in Summer 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Experts from the Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies (IMRI) under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan conducted another round of price monitoring in June 2025, focusing on key food items across major supermarkets in Tashkent. The analysis covered 21 product categories and was based on data collected on 7 May and 12 June.
According to the findings, minimum prices decreased for nine items compared to the previous month. The most significant drop was recorded for white cabbage, which became 64.2% cheaper. Substantial price reductions were also observed for tomatoes (down 44.7%), cucumbers (36.5%), beets (21.5%), bananas (13%), apples (8.4%), rice (7.3%), beef fillet (6.3%), and potatoes (6%).
At the same time, minimum prices rose for six items. The sharpest increase was noted for lemons, which analysts attribute to seasonal fluctuations in supply and demand.
Prices for the remaining six items remained stable. These include wheat flour, buckwheat, pasta, eggs, margarine, and sunflower oil.
Overall, June showed a favorable trend of declining prices for most seasonal fruits and vegetables, largely due to the beginning of the summer harvest.
