Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — State inspectors from the Main Department of Ecology and Climate Change of Tashkent Region conducted another inspection in the Ahangaran District, uncovering the illegal felling of ornamental trees.

According to the authorities, on a 11.5-hectare plot in the Karasuvyoka neighborhood, the farm “F.A.B” destroyed and buried more than 100 perennial trees and shrubs along with their roots.

During the site examination, root remains of 59 trees were found. To prevent further destruction, activists were mobilized and patrols organized at the location.

In accordance with Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 464 of 22 August 2022, the environmental damage is estimated at 1 billion 463 million 12 thousand soms. It is noted that during the moratorium, compensation for cutting valuable tree and shrub species not included in the state forest fund is doubled.

All collected materials have been submitted to law enforcement agencies for legal assessment.
