Illegal Actions of Judicial System Employee Exposed in Bukhara
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An archivist of the Gijduvan District Criminal Court was detained by law enforcement authorities on charges of extortion and abuse of official powers.
According to the materials of the criminal case reviewed by the Kogon City Court, the accused, using his professional connections within the judicial system, promised a defendant assistance during the trial and the preservation of the verdict in the future.
For this “assistance,” he demanded US$700, having received an advance payment of US$100.
During an operational raid conducted by the State Security Service together with the Department under the General Prosecutor’s Office, the archivist was detained with the remaining US$600 and material evidence.
A criminal case was initiated against the suspect under Part 3 of Article 25, Paragraph “v” of Article 168, and Part 1 of Article 28 and Article 211 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
He has been placed in pre-trial detention, and investigative actions are ongoing.
