Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Ilkhomjon Nematov will take up the duties of Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee - Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) from 1 January 2021, Dunyo news agency reported.
Ilkhomjon Nematov was born in the Namangan region, graduated from the Fergana Polytechnic Institute and the Diplomatic Academy in Moscow.
Since 1992, he has been working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He started as head of the Consular Department. Over the years, he headed the embassies of Uzbekistan in India, Russia, the United States, was Ambassador-at-Large of the Foreign Ministry, Deputy, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
He is candidate of Economic Sciences, has the highest diplomatic rank of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It is expected that Ilkhomjon Nematov in the CIS Executive Committee will coordinate issues of economic cooperation.
