Human Development Index: Uzbekistan drops one position but remains in the high human development category

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan ranked 107th out of 193 countries and territories in the annual Human Development Index (HDI) compiled by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Compared to the previous ranking, Uzbekistan fell by one position.

The index evaluates a country’s development level based on three core indicators: life expectancy, length of education (both expected and actual), and gross national income per capita adjusted for purchasing power parity.

Uzbekistan’s HDI stood at 0.740, on a scale where the maximum value is 1.000. This allows the country to retain its classification as a nation with a high level of human development. In the current ranking, Uzbekistan is positioned between South Africa and Bolivia.

Among Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan achieved the highest result, ranking 60th and entering the category of countries with very high human development. Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan placed 95th and 117th respectively, joining Uzbekistan in the high human development category. Tajikistan, as in previous years, remained in the group of countries with medium development, ranking 128th.

Iceland topped the global list, followed by Norway, Switzerland, Denmark, and Germany.
