How will Navruz be celebrated in Uzbekistan this year?

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The President of Uzbekistan signed a resolution”On the preparation and holding of the national holiday Navruz in 2022”.

In order to organize Navruz at a high level, in tune with the current processes of transformation and renewal, the holiday will be held as a nationwide celebration under the motto "Assalom, Navruz is a holiday of renewal and kindness, honor and dignity!"

To hold the holiday at a high level on the ground, it is planned to pay special attention to:

organizing spiritual and educational events during the days of Navruz, reflecting the harmony of man and nature, his love and concern for his native land;

organizations in the complex "Yangi Uzbekistan" in Tashkent city of people’s sayil on the basis of a separate program;

holding charitable events aimed at providing comprehensive care and attention to veterans of the Second World War, representatives of the older generation, assistance and support to the pupils of the houses "Mehribonlik" and "Muruvvat", citizens living in the houses "Sakhovat", persons included in the "iron", “female”, “youth” notebooks and “mercy notebook”;

organization of events initiated within the framework of the national project "Yashil Makon", as well as holding on the eve of the Navruz holiday a nationwide hashar for landscaping and gardening in all regions, in every district and city of the republic, on every street and in every mahalla;

organizing exhibitions of handicrafts, competitions in national sports, book fairs, mobile trade points, as well as the preparation and sale of traditional spring dishes in places of festive events.

It has been established that the expenses associated with holding festive events are reimbursed:

in Tashkent - at the expense of the republican budget and the local budget of Tashkent in equal shares;

in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and regions - at the expense of the budget of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and local budgets of regions.

The document Approved:

the composition of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the national holiday Navruz in 2022;

"Road map" for the national holiday Navruz in 2022.

According to the Decree “On the establishment of additional non-working days during the celebration of official dates and the postponement of days off in 2022”, signed by the President back in December last year, this year the celebration of Navruz will last five days.

Days from 19 to 23 March are declared days off:

19 March 2022 (Saturday);

20 March  (Sunday);

21 March (Monday) - public holiday;

22 March  (Tuesday) - additional non-working day;

23 March (Wednesday) is an additional non-working day.
