HKU Signs MoU with El-Yurt Umidi Foundation in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The University of Hong Kong (HKU) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation on 9 March 2026, aimed at strengthening educational ties and creating collaborative opportunities for talented students from Uzbekistan.
The signing ceremony was attended by Professor Bennett Yim, Director of Admissions and International Exchange at HKU, and Darvon Abdurashidov, First Deputy Executive Director of the foundation.
The MoU represents HKU’s first official collaboration in Uzbekistan and establishes frameworks for educational programs, including facilitating admission of foundation scholarship recipients to undergraduate and graduate programs, developing initiatives to enhance academic skills, organizing joint events, and providing financial support through scholarships.
Professor Yim emphasized that the agreement demonstrates HKU’s commitment to academic collaboration and student mobility. “We are delighted to work with the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation to provide meaningful educational opportunities for students from Uzbekistan,” he said.
The partnership opens new opportunities for talented Uzbek students and strengthens HKU’s global academic network, promoting international education and intercultural exchange.
