Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the progress of work to improve the drinking water supply in Jizzakh region.
In accordance with the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of 4 May 2018, a project is being implemented to improve the drinking water supply system in the region through the use of the waters of the Zarafshan River.
The project, worth almost 580 billion soums, provides for the construction of water intake and treatment facilities, the Jizzakh water distribution center and 183 kilometers of trunk networks.
Responsible persons reported on the work carried out within the project.
Currently, in Bulungur district, near the Zarafshan River, the construction of the Uzunbuloq water treatment plant with a capacity of 100 thousand cubic meters, a pumping station, a laboratory, a filtration station and auxiliary facilities has been completed. A 77-kilometer wire has been laid from the Uzunbuloq-Gagarin trunk network to the city of Jizzakh. The Jizzakh water distribution structure and two reservoirs with a capacity of 5 thousand cubic meters were built. Now a 90-kilometer wire will be laid from these facilities to the city of Gagarin.
As a result of this historical project, 700,000 people living in Bakhmal, Gallaaral, Sharaf-Rashidov, Pakhtakor, Dustlik and Mirzachul districts, as well as in 163 mahallas of the city of Jizzakh, will have access to clean drinking water.
The event was attended by representatives of the older generation, mahalla activists, artists and youth.
“The situation with drinking water in Jizzakh region was difficult. The Jizzakh people have been waiting for this water for more than 30 years. We tried to resolve the issue even when I was hokim. But there was no project, no money. Now, dreams come true today. Qualified specialists must work in every structure of this system, in every district through which its parts pass. It is also necessary to train young people to use information technologies in this”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
It is planned to complete the project in the first half of 2022.
