Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Hero of Uzbekistan, member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and chairman of the Samarkand regional department of the Nuroniy foundation Hasan Normurodov died at the age of 82. This was reported by the press services of the khokimiyat of Samarkand region.

A selfless participant in social activities, he worked for many years in the public education system. Later, being the chairman of the Samarkand regional branch of the Nuroniy foundation, he made a significant contribution to the social protection of veterans. Recently, he served as deputy head of the Samarkand regional department for support of the mahalla and family.

The title "Uzbekiston Qakhramoni" ("Hero of Uzbekistan") was awarded by the President’s Decree in 2019. Previously, he was also awarded the orders "Mekhnat Shukhrati" and "El-Yurt Khurmati".

“The life of this man, who devoted his whole life to enlightenment and service to the people and achieved great authority among people with his honest work and intelligence, was a real school of example for all intellectuals of the country,” the Samarkand regional khokimiyat said in a statement.

During a visit to Samarkand region, on 16 April 2021, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Hero of Uzbekistan, member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Hasan Normurodov, who was being treated at the Samarkand branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Aid. Then the head of state wished the veteran of labor a speedy recovery, good spirits and long life. Unfortunately, fate decreed otherwise.
