Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 June 2021, the Senate hosted a meeting between the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva with the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev.
During the meeting, it was noted that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan attach great importance to the expansion of bilateral cooperation between the countries. Over the past 4 years, Uzbek-Kazakh interaction in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres has risen to a high level.
The intensity of bilateral political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations is growing, which meets the interests of both countries.
The inter-parliamentary dialogue between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan has intensified. The parties exchange visits of delegations on a regular basis to study the experience of parliamentary activities, including through participation in various international conferences and parliamentary organizations.
The issues of further development of cooperation in the field of transport communications and transit traffic, labor migration, water use, culture, education, gender equality were considered. The parties welcomed the opening of the Consulate of Kazakhstan in Samarkand and the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Shymkent.
They also discussed the development and expansion of cooperation, including the development of relations between specialized committees, the promotion of joint initiatives within the framework of international parliamentary structures (IPU, OSCE PA, IPA CIS), as well as a number of other international organizations, the establishment of interregional cooperation between deputies, active formation legal framework, ensuring the implementation of practical measures aimed at mitigating the negative effects of the pandemic and other issues.
It was noted that today the inter-parliamentary commission of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation with the Parliament of Kazakhstan, as well as the newly created commission of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation with the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan, are successfully operating.
Currently, purposeful work is underway to enhance the role of parliament in the development of interregional cooperation in improving lawmaking, economic, tourism, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
For the implementation of the above and other measures, the "Road Map" for the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation for 2021-2022 was approved.
At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Institute for Problems of Legislation and Parliamentary Research of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Institute for Parliamentarism under the Parliament of Kazakhstan.
